Ah, Georgetown. Infinity supply of food and culture. My favorite location to pretend to be a lost tourist.
A week was spent in Ryokan on Muntri Street, a self-proclaimed chic hostel, with impressive reviews on Trip Advisor.
I checked in expecting a basic bed and shower but I was pleasantly suprised. Air conditioned room, jet warm shower, beanbags at the Chillax area and free breakfast! All for RM35/night for a bed in a 4-bed female dorm. Loved the hugeeee mirror adorned with bulbs, it made me feel like a rock star. :p
The Chillax area with black and hot pink beanbags is my favorite part, luckily i brought my own books to read before heading for my PHP training in Suntech. The murals on the walls were cute too, they put a spin on Darwin’s Theory of Evolution – ape to backpacker when you go up the stairs, then backpacker back to ape when you descend. The breakfast area is pretty basic, luckily I do find charm in simplicity.
Two weeks later, I was back in Georgetown, this time with my two younger sisters. It was the Chinese New Year weekend, and the archery centre on Komtar Walk was closed. We opted to find small cafes and street art in Georgetown. This time we stopped by MoonTree 47, which is opposite, then a few doors down from Ryokan.
We had a round of Scrabble and also some card games, while sipping yummy italian sodas. Recommended: cherry. Favorite parts are the rainbow table and light blue curtains. The menu is glued to the insides of cereal boxes.
Missing these two kids, wish they would move in with me here in Kulim.
So anyways, I’m doing the whole “Jar of Good Things that Happened in 2013” rather successfully up until now. By successfully, I meant I’m always looking for ways to fill the jar, which will now be dubbed as Jar of Hearts (lol), and hence always finding ways to keep a smile on my face.
Most of the contents of The Jar will be a secret for now, but hints are all over this blog. And here are more 😉
Looking forward to the next advenchaaaaa. Hehe. A best friend’s wedding and a historical city visit are coming up yeay! 😉
