I love climbing. The height, the fall, the effort; they are extremely exhilirating. I did a bit of wall climbing in Putrajaya when I was an undergrad but Penang doesn’t have any indoor climbing gyms that I know of.
However, Escape is a lot more fun! Imagine zipping through trees on flying fox, balancing on a beam, and just virtually walking among trees. The adventure park is very eco-friendly and it caters to all ages.
We started our adventure-play by going on the Tubby Racer. Basically you have to drag your tube up a hill then slide down. It was definitely a bumpy ride! The ride down was done in a jiffy, but the climb up was the ultimate workout, with the added weight of the tube.
Next up, wall climbing with a twist! Instead of boulders, we climbed up windows, pipes and even air conditioners! The climb up was also timed, so you can have a race with your friends.
The adventure park is made up mostly of Monkey Business. There are 3 levels of difficulty with 2-3 routes on each level. We only tried 2 routes because we spent most of the time in queue. It is highly recommended to go on a weekday, so that you can try all of the park attractions. They do not allow loose items on Monkey Business, so we only had photos standing below it.
The last attraction that we tried, Atan’s Leap, was probably the most exhilirating to me. You have to climb up about 5 storeys high, then they strap you in. You then have to walk to the end of the platform and take your leap of faith! With the sun in your eyes, the view will take your breath away, both literally and figuratively.
The other thing that I loved is the design of the park, they really want us to be one with nature. There were grass planted on the rooftops to keep the building at a low temperature. The doors also had bright and cheerful colours.
Spend a day in Escape with family or friends, you’ll definitely have a great time and a lot of fun in the sun! 😉
