Rome is where the heart is. Haha. I just had to write that 😛
I have always dreamt of throwing coins into Trevi Fountain, eating real Italian gelato and also exploring Colosseum. So happy to finally cross them off my bucket list! We arrived quite late in Rome and decided to hang out by the fountain and people watch. We witnessed a romantic proposal. Thankfully the girl said yes and everyone cheered. A girl also jumped into the fountain and swam to the middle. She later was escorted by two Italian security men.
We spent the next day around Piazza del Popolo and Borghese Museum. It was an incredibly sunny and cheery day.
Later that day I couldn’t believe we finally get to set our foot in the Colosseum! The feeling was surreal. I have seen too many photos online and on the travel channel and it felt amazing to see everything with my own two eyes.
We had more gelato by the Trevi fountain! We ordered mint, strawberry and chocolate chip flavours and didn’t initially realise our choices were in the colours of the Italian flag! 😀
The next day, we headed to the smallest country on Earth, Vatican City! Seriously the country basically consists of churches and museums. I just had to send a postcard home. The post office is so cute and full of people being excited to write home about their adventures.
We left Vatican City and explored Rome aimlessly. We also stopped by the Pantheon.
That was our last night in Rome. Fareed was going to leave us for Malaysia while we made our way to Milan. We definitely fell in love with the ancient and vibrant city. We celebrated our last night in Rome with a romantic dinner, eating pasta of course! 😀
